Reflections

Celebrating Reflections

Thank you to all who participated in Reflections this year - the theme was "I Belong." From the 10 entries that advanced from LWHS to the council level, 3 have been moved on to the Washington State level!

All 3 winning entries are from the Photography category:

  • Ella Ferris (9th grade): Outstanding Interpretation for "Written / Received / Remembered"
  • Mitchell Hickey (10th grade): Award of Excellence for "Sailing As One"
  • Arron Randhawa (12th Grade): Award of Merit for "Rainbow Road"

All the Reflections entries, not just the winning entries, will be displayed at the Resource Center January 21 to 26. The LWPTSA Reflections Open House will be held on January 23, 5-7pm for our Council Reflections entrants.

If your students are interested in participating in Reflections next school year and would like to start thinking about how to present their ideas through various art forms, the theme for 2026-2027 will be What My Culture Means to Me.

Volunteers Needed

PTSA Nominating Committee: Volunteers Needed

LWHS PTSA is beginning to plan for what our team will look like next year! While students and staff are focused on registration, we are focused on finding friendly and outgoing volunteers who want to see the important work we do continue. We are looking for three to five people to fill our PTSA Nominating Committee.

Members of this committee use their networking skills to help us fill volunteer positions on our PTSA Board, as well as Committee Chairs. This role is a short time commitment that gives back to our community in a huge way, and in no way signs you up for other committees or roles. If you are interested in helping to network to fill these positions, please contact PTSA President Catie Malik or Executive VP Heather Scott.

Join the LWHS PTSA to Make a Difference!

Remember to signup for this school year and LWHS! (Your membership has to be renewed yearly and specifically for LWHS, please sign up today!)

There's no one-size-fits-all approach to PTSA. However you choose to engage, it's an investment in your child's future. PTSA can mean supporting your child's teachers and educational programs, advocating for issues that affect your child at local, state, and national levels, and fostering a more robust, diverse, and inclusive school community.

We extend an open invitation to every family to get involved with PTSA because together, we can achieve more.

Membership fees and donations are the lifeblood of our organization. Our annual "Pass the Pouch" campaign, which is our sole fundraiser, will kick off shortly, but donating when you join is appreciated and simple.

Lake Washington PTSA organizes enrichment and wellness programs, recognition, classroom and club activities, and scholarship assistance that directly benefit our students and are not possible through public funding alone. By becoming a member and donating, you play a pivotal role in turning this year's goals into reality. Also, we welcome your suggestions for use of funds - just attend a meeting or reach out to us at fundrasing@lwhspta.org.

Collaboration between community members, educators, and students is key to student success. Join us now and donate to start making an impact!

For more information about the PTSA, please don't hesitate to contact me, Shiree Wright, Membership Chair at membership@lwhsptsa.org, or our PTSA President, Catie Malik, at president@lwhsptsa.org.

We eagerly anticipate welcoming YOU as a valued member!
